the industries are classified into several groups based on the size of labor of cotton textiles, ownership and sources of raw materials for examples:- manufacturing small scale industry, TISCO AS PRIVATE COMPANIES WHILE BHEL IS A GOVERNMENT OWNED COMPANY ETC
cotton textile industry:- the cotton textile largest industry in India. India monopoly in the manufacturing of cotton textile is very old this industry gives employment to over 1.5 million there about 1600 cotton and human-made fiber textile mills in the country. through in the early years, cotton mills were located in Maharashtra and Gujarat only. today these are spread over 80 towns and cities of the country.
however, most of them are concentrated in located in cities only. (Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu)
the second, the most important industry of India in the jute textile industry. India is in the 1st position in the production of the raw material of jute and jute goods . in the export of jute goods it ran second in the world, there are about 70 jute mills in the country most of the jute mills are in west Bengal and are located along in Hugli river. The jute industry has always brought a sizeable amount of foreign exchange from exports.
wollen textile is one of the oldest textile industries in the country. hosiery producing units primarily located in Punjab, Haryana, and Tamil Nadu
India Is well known for the production of silk and goods India produces about 8.5 lakh kG of silk turns. major silk-producing states in Karnataka, West Bengal, Jammu, and Kashmir India silk industry has a tough competition with China, Thailand, Italy.
mineral-based industries:- the first iron and steel unit in India was established in 1830 at Porto nova. However, the concept of large scale production could materially only with establishing a steel plant at Jamshedpur in 1907
India’s second-largest important metallurgical industry in aluminum smelting
The copper smelting plant in India was set up by the Indian copper corporation at ghashila in Jharkhand it was taken bt the Indian copper LTD.
IN 1972
in the economy of India, the chemical industry also occupies an important role this is a fast-growing industry the first fertilizer plant in India was set up ranipet in Tamil Nadu in 1906. however, the real growth of the industry began with the establishment of a plant at sindhiri by the fertilizer corporation of India.
India produces a variety of cement:; they are good quality and hence, have a ready market in the south and east Asia
transport industry:- Indian railways represent the growing level of technology of India. however road transport of far more widespread than the technology of India. however, road transport of far more spread than the railways. India also ha five major shipbuilding centers. all of them are in the public sector. India has developed aircraft for defense requirements. but it has not entered into civil aircraft till now.
electronic industry:- Indian electronic industry is contributing a lot of space technology besides as revolutionary the life of the masses it is a fact has changed the country economy and quality of human life
